Q 1: What is the eligibility criteria for registering for the Intermediate Course through the Direct Entry Route?

Candidates who have passed the intermediate level of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India are eligible to register for the Intermediate Course through the Direct Entry Route if they are graduates or post-graduates in commerce (with a minimum of 55% marks), graduates or post-graduates in other fields (with a minimum of 60% marks), or both.

Q 2: I am pursuing my last year of graduation. How can I join the CA course?

The CA Intermediate Course is available for provisional registration through the Direct Entry Route. You can take the Intermediate Examination once you have completed the required coursework in the Intermediate Course and graduated with the necessary grades, which is eight months from the date of your provisional registration.

Q 3: I have not secured the requisite marks for graduation, and I am pursuing post-graduation. How can I join the CA course?

In the final year of post-graduation, you may register provisionally for the Intermediate Course via the Direct Entry Route. You would be able to stand in the Intermediate Examination after completing the Post-Graduation with the required marks and completing an eight-month study period in the Intermediate Course from the date of provisional enrollment.

Q 4: I have registered provisionally for the Intermediate Course through the Direct Entry Route. When will my registration be confirmed?

If you registered for the final year of graduation, your provisional registration for the Intermediate Course will be verified upon receipt of the graduation examination marksheet containing the necessary scores. The marksheet must be turned in within six months of the graduation exam results being announced. Alternatively, if you enrolled during the last year of post-graduation, your registration will be verified provisionally upon receipt of the marksheet with the necessary scores from the post-graduation examination. Q 5: When are the intermediate examinations held, and what is the cutoff date for registration in the intermediate course for appearing in the intermediate examination?

Answer: Twice a year, between May and November, the Intermediate Examinations are conducted. The candidate must be enrolled in the Intermediate Course for at least eight months by the first day of the month in which the exam is held. For instance, in order to appear in the Intermediate May 2024 Examination, a candidate must be registered in the Intermediate Course by September 1st, 2023, at the latest.
